Tile Tips: Summer Edition
Scoops. Sunshine. Smores. Summer is calling and we’ve got you covered! Wherever your adventures take you, here are a few tips to make the season even more magical.
Fireworks:
Try a simple fireworks inspired art exploration with your kids. Cut a piece of paper to fit inside the bottom of a salad spinner. Squirt a few drops of paint onto the paper, spin, and prepare to be amazed!
Camp:
Before your camper heads out in the morning, give them a mini “mission” like:
“Find something red today!”
“Learn one new name!”
“Bring back a cool leaf!”
This will connect home and camp and make them excited to report back about their day.
Beach:
Play Musical Towels, a beachy spin on Musical Chairs. Don’t have enough towels to go around? Use a combo of towels + beach chairs! Cue some lively music and dance until the music stops.
Play Outside:
Try bringing a few of your daily activities outside. We’re all about outdoor snacks, meals, and play sessions! Enjoy a family walk after dinner or read bedtime stories on the back patio. In rainy weather, bundle up for a quick round of tag or hide-and-seek. Can you incorporate puddles or flashlights into your play?
Party:
Summer can mean lots of new social experiences for kids. Prepare for outings to new/unfamiliar social settings by discussing:
How many people will be there?
Which parent or caregiver will be with your child?
How long will your child stay?
Are there any specific activities planned?
What is expected of your child in this setting?
Will your child be an active or passive participant here?
